2010 Accomplishments



2010 was a very productive year for the Eggerts Crossing Civic League, Inc.  

 

During the year, We…

 

  • Started the year with a successful Annual New Year’s Breakfast. All community supporters were invited.
  • Held a successful Spring Gala (our major fundraiser for the year) at the Conference Center at Mercer County Community College.  At the Gala we honored State Senator Shirley Turner, rlm architect – Robin Murray, and Bristol Meyers-Squibb Co. – Frederick Egenolf.  We had an excellent turnout. Rev. Darrell Armstrong, Pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church was the guest speaker and music was provided by Carlos Hendricks.
  •  Received a $10,000 grant from Bristol Myers-Squibb Co. for Heritage Park playground improvement.
  •  Partnered with the Lawrenceville Boy Scouts to install four display boards in Heritage Park. This was an Eagle Scout project for Jamie Titus. He is now attending Princeton University.
  • Worked with Lawrence Twp. Public Works to have the volleyball court (sand) removed and replaced it with grass in Heritage Park. 
  • rlm architect developed plans for the playground sitting area and the west entrance to the park.
  • Requested bids for the additional improvements to Heritage Park.  The following improvements are scheduled for the spring of this year at the playground area: Concrete Slab, Benches, Oriental Crabapple Trees, Engraving Bricks and Chess Table.
  • Awarded two $1,000 Scholarships to Lawrence High School graduates, Jocelyn Rock and Isaiah Pettis.
  • Lawrence Township reconstructed the Greenway from the Heritage Park to the Ewing Border, and from Eggerts Crossing Road to Rider College.  We now have approx. 3 miles of Greenway.
  • Worked with the Mercer County Tree commission to remove approximately 10 dead or damaged trees from Heritage Park.
  • Continued to get support from the community to maintain the planting beds during the summer. A big thank you to Terrance Leggett who had his two sons Chelton, Wesley, and  employees, help with the planting beds in the Spring.
  • Held an Engraving Brick fundraiser.
  • Continued to partner with our sister organizations GEPNA, ECV Tenants Assoc., First Baptist Church of Eggerts Crossing, HomeFront.
